Dr. Daryl Wilson's top 10 Halloween Movie List

Dr. Daryl Wilson's top 10 Halloween Movie List

I’ve been a hardcore fan of the Bollweevils since I caught them at a Dr Strange showcase in the Inland Empire back in the mid-90s. Time slips by so fast it’s a blur—who the hell remembers exact dates anyway? But let me tell you, it was a serious thrill when Dr. Daryl Wilson (The singer of the Bollweevils) agreed to throw together a blog post for me. We’re rolling into Halloween season, and I thought, who better to ask for a top 10 list of killer Halloween flicks than Daryl?

Now, if you don’t know who Dr. Daryl Wilson is or who the Bollweevils are, you need to stop everything right now. Open up Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, whatever—search them. Crank it up. Trust me, you won’t regret a second of it.

Enough out of me. Let’s get into Dr. Daryl Wilson's top 10 Halloween movies

Hey folks, Dr. Daryl from Chicago Punk Band The Bollweevils.  Got asked to list my top 10 Halloween movies and let me tell you, this wasn't an easy task.  I ended up choosing the movies or shows that I have found throughout my youth that really struck a cord with me.  Either the shows remind me of the fun of Halloween or they left an indelible mark on my psyche. Some of these picks touch on some lingering primal fear that lies somewhere in my brain. Probably the fear of loss of autonomy and control over my choices. I know ghosts and paranormal activity are not real...at least the science portion of my brain believes that notion, and it overrides the illogical idea of ghosts, demons, haunted houses, zombies and all manner of monster.  But one of my picks is all too real and my hatred of rodents plays into that pick.  I had fun compiling this list.  Maybe it will get you to watch a few of these during the season.  Enjoy!

10. A Nightmare On Elm Street

9. Ghostbusters (pure fun)

8. Poltergeist (the theme of haunted houses will pop up a few times)

7.Night Of The Living Dead

6. Alien

5. The Amityville Horror

4.Of Unknown Origin (This movie freaks me out)

3.Burnt Offerings (The ending! The Limo Driver, Betty Davis?)

2. It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (classic and great all around)

1. The Exorcist (The crucifix, the loss of control, the power of Christ compels you)

I know you forget to search the Bollweevils so here is a their music.
