When I saw the Mugged project, I loved it right away. I love hardcore in all of its forms, from the moment I heard old scratchy, rumbly recordings of Minor Threat and 7 Seconds, all the way till now. I still drive through the night (through snow storms) for classic bands like Madball and new classics like Drug Church and Fiddlehead.
I reached out to Mugged, after seeing the Emo mug and suggested a Krishnacore mug. (Punk Rock Museum Vegas is my next target!) I felt like the hardcore collection would be more complete and whole with the addition of this genre, and I was also excited for the fall shows that 108 played with Judge. Krishnacore was a crucial aspect of punk and it should be included.
I painstakingly chose the bands to include, with the help of my dear friend and old roomie, Norman Brannon. We nerded out on the selection, contemplating who would best represent this sub-sub culture. Many messaged were passed. I asked my hubby. His opinions about music are stellar. The final choice was mine. I settled on Cause For Alarm, as a representative of proto-Krishnacore. I moved through the 90's with the heavy hitters, Prema, Shelter and 108 and also decided that the future of the genre is in the hands of a band like Back to Godhead. I could only choose 5. These seemed like the essential picks.
Please support this delightful artistic project. DIY ethos is at the heart of punk; believe in it and live it.
We understand that there are still a lot of amazing bands missing from this mug. But have No fear we have more versions on the way. It's sturdy and glossy with a vivid print that'll withstand the microwave and dishwasher.
